APESK History

The Association of Power Facilities Construction Companies (APESK) is an Association of construction companies in Russia involved in building power plants.

APESK was initiated in 2007.  Over the course of the next two years, founders of the Association began the task of networking with companies within the power facilities construction industry and with members of the legislative and regulatory bodies of the Russian government, such as the State Duma, the lower house of the Federal Assembly of Russia.

By 2009, Association founders were ready to move forward with a detailed mission and action plan and to begin the task of strengthening the power construction industry. The first industry-wide, self-regulatory organization was formed, consisting of some of the leading specialists in the public and private sector, as well as a specialized committee whose task it would be to professionalize the industry.

In 2012, a Department of Energy and Electric Grid Construction was established at the Moscow State Construction University.

The Department would be the first of its kind to focus on energy and electric grid construction, not only to educate and train a workforce, but also to develop energy saving technologies and solutions to clean energy needs.
